Brookly Bridge – Acrylic painting by Alexander “Rio” Rodríguez
Painted on February 3, 2025
My daughter Genni asked my wife if I could paint a city scape for her. The answer she got was something like, “I don’t think so, he only paints seascapes and islands and boats…” When I heard this, I figured I would try and paint a city scape and this turned into painting my ‘brookly bridge’. Thanks to Genni and Evy for the inspiration.
Oh, she did wind up getting a painting but I kept this one and hung it in my office. She got a different painting called “Genni Walking in the Park.” You’ll be able to see that one elsewhere on my site.
I grew up in Brooklyn though I live in NJ now but I remember riding across the bridge to visit family. Some day in the future, I would love to paint this with more colors. The goal here was to use a limited palette. I like how it turned out.
Bio: my name is Alex and I’ve recently started on a journey to explore how to paint in Acrylics after many years where I limited myself to drawing in pencil and pen. I’ve always enjoyed drawing and sketching but started painting with Acrylic in August of 2024. I plan to explore airbrushing, digital painting and fluid/dutch pours in the future.
I hope you like my paintings. If you interested in purchasing one of my paintings, contact me at art@rodspace.com.
Provenance: current held by the artist.
Pigments and support: Mars Black, Titanium White, Bright Aqua Green and Phthalocyanine Blue. This painting was painted on acid-free 9×12 acrylic 400 g/m2 paper which was primed with white gesso.
